About Me

Meet Your Therapist, Jane Caldwell

My background as a professional ballet dancer allows for a deep understanding of both traumatic and overuse injuries, as well as an appreciation of ‘good old’ sore muscles.  I have worked on-site at a fitness centre, in yoga and dance studios, as part of a larger spa company and as an independent therapist. I continue to teach adult ballet classes, and draw on my musculoskeletal knowledge to focus on working safely within proper alignment.

Originally from Georgia, USA, I trained in ballet from a young age and continued through university, receiving my BA (Hons) in Theatre Dance from London Studio Centre.  Massage therapy was always an integral part of both my training and my performance career, and I subsequently completed my VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy from St Mary’s College of University of Surrey.  In the US, I held Massage Therapy licenses in Georgia and Pennsylvania, and was a member of ABMP for six years.

Since returning to England, I’ve built up a loyal following from my treatment room in Shalford, Surrey. In 2021, I completed my Level 4 Sports Massage training, giving me even more skills to draw on in dealing with injuries.  My clients have included professional dancers, runners, cyclists, squash and tennis pros, serious athletes on the amateur level and non-sports people who encounter equally frustrating muscular problems in the workplace.  I see a range of ages, from 12-80+, and now have over 18 years’ experience in the field. I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate as well as up-to-date Emergency First Aid Training.

In November 2021, I began working as Soft Tissue Therapist for the Royal Ballet in Covent Garden, and am thoroughly enjoying being part of the Ballet Healthcare team.

I hope to help others with my skills as a therapist as much as massage therapy helps me.
